Google has updated its Business Profiles help documentation by eliminating the option to submit a utility bill as supporting evidence during the appeal process. The reason behind this change is unclear, but it’s possible that utility bills were considered too easy to forge or manipulate using online templates.
The phrasing was taken down sometime after May 2025, which is when the Wayback Machine last captured the page.
At this point, Google only recognizes the following documents as valid proof:
